It’s High Time You Learn To Wait

By:- Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

It’s OK, I guess if I sit and wait,
Tired and Hungry,
Wait for you to come home,
Then together we shall eat,
But if YOU.., have to wait,
Then all the hell breaks loose,
Jibes, snide comments and a swollen face,
It isn’t that I’ve vanished suddenly
You know my whereabouts,
You know the reason I’m delayed,
Then why this mental barricade?

You forget,
Two players,
Can play the same game,
Think where you’ll be, if I join the game,
Nagging; blame game isn’t my aim,
But there’s a limit,
To what I can endure,
And constant cribbing,
Is definitely not the cure,
Your coffee, meals and comforts are always catered for,
Then need you always raise a furore?

Give me some space,
I’m an individual too…!!
And I have my own pace…
Haven’t I always waited for you?
I guess this outburst was long overdue.
I’ve waited; in patient anticipation to hear your foot steps,
To hear the gravel crunch beneath the tyres announcing your arrival,
I’ve waited months, for your return on getting posted out,
It’s high time you learnt to wait,
And give up this annoying trait.

And don’t crib,
I’m NOT late,
I’m delayed
NOT by choice,
I HAD no choice.
