Fallen Leaves

The daylight declines,
To linger;
As the leaves fall,
Away with the wind.
Whispering together;
Before a storm,
Naked branches,
Now scratched by cold wind.

From the seed
We were conceived,
Spring; being our beginning.
Each lyrical leaf,
Gracefully upon the wind.
The leaves take counsel;
Some linger on while some fly down.

Destined to fall upon stony ground,
Witness to a part of life’s infernal gyration.
Oh..! I am but a simple leaf,
Withering now; within the gutter.
A pledge of foliation
Continuing to endure; an autumn flutter.
What spring has furnished;
Autumn expires.
