An Unwanted Visitor

An Unwanted Visitor
Tiny ball of fur
With eyes cerulean blue
Fuzzy packaging, sharp claws.
Mewling softly and forever hungry.
Stumbling as you learnt to walk
Snuggling against my cheek; in my neck.
Curling up on my chest and in my lap,
Crawling up on my shirt and on my giant dogs.

Tiny sandpaper licks on my chin;
Sucking my fingers when going to sleep,
Tickling; warm, heartening
Whiskers tickling my nose.
Little did I know that you were lent to me
By God only for a short while
To love while you lived and
Mourn when you died.
Little did I know that the dark angles
Will visit while you slept
Creeping up on you slowly
Snuff out the life suffocating you.
As you gasped for air;
Taking in your last breath
Cocooned in my palms
Death visited my house yet again.

All I’m left with is a
Full panoply of your memories
Trapped in my camera
As I mourn your loss.

    1. Yes… OK.. I have no choice… how can I fight destiny… I did best what I could for three weeks but I’m only human… and this is when I feel helpless. My pets die in my hand and can’t do a thing… this is second in 3 months… difference is only in ages. Both rescued cats. Same color. Same parentage. One was 17 yr old male… and this one is 4 wks old female. I’m actually heartbroken Harsh…

      1. Ma’am koi baat nhi apne itni mehnat ki. Sab kuch nhi haath main humare. These pets of you Ma’am would be so thankful ki apki vajah se jahan they wouldn’t have lived long phir bhi they survived this much. They are in much better place Ma’am. Please Ma’am don’t feel bad. I know it’s very hard to see someone you cared for not to touch again but Ma’am think of the love they gave you and the times they gave you. They won’t even want to see you so sad. Please dont be sad Ma’am. 🙂

      2. It’ll take time Harsh, the wound is very raw. She crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday night at 1:30am… and I was helpless… could do nothing but speak to her as she lay gasping for each breath dying and trying to respond… but yes they can give us immense love in such a short time… that’s why they are priceless.

      3. I can understand Ma’am. When I was very young i had a puppy. She was the most beautiful little bundle of joy that we had. We called her snowy as she was white like snow and looked exactly like a ball of snow. I lost her when while playing she went outside the gate and on the road something happened. I cried a lot, decided that I won’t ever adopt a dog. But Ma’am. This is life we have no control. Take your time Ma’am. Take as much time as you want. But please take care of yourself Ma’am. And I am sure you’ll have one playing with you very soon. 🙂

      4. Thanks a lot Harsh… I have buried 5pets…each time I tell myself that I won’t keep them as it hurts a lot when they die… but each time they look into my eyes and cuddle my heart melts and I find myself open and vulnerable. Most of them are all rescued animals and I can’t let them die so I take them in. Most live on and are adopted some can’t make it. Like my angel. She died of pneumonia, water in her lungs. Yes, this time will pass… with support of family and friends like you this rough journey will be a little easier… thanks for being there

      5. I can feel your pain Ma’am. I really do. It was so sad to hear such a loss Ma’am. I hope you recover soon. And your family and friends will always be there. I will always be here Ma’am. Take care Ma’am. 🙂

      6. Today I had the launch of my book by Shri Ashok Chakradhar…. it went off well. At one point I panicked…and the first thought was that Angel would have got up and would be hungry. Then I remembered that she is now a free soul…

      1. then you can understand my loss…why do they have such short lives. its unfair. everytime i think i wont adopt an animal as it burns a hole in my heart when they die but then end up rescuing another when i see that it has less survival chances outside…then its a 5o-50 situation for me
