Runaway Relationships

broken-heart-burning

By:- rANJEETA nATH gHAI

Day slowly passes
And sometimes she feels so alone
Even with her family at home
Pain…blinding pain; it surges
Through her body like electricity
Crippling her confidence and her beliefs
And, reality is unforgiving.

*

She feels a strange connection towards the words.
The alphabets are now her best friends.
Making her feel special
They make her not want to reach the end.
There is a connection…between her words,
Her thoughts and her real life.
And she knows their love for her is not based on needs.

*

Her brain is now keeping distance
From people who use her just as an option
She has no choice but to accept the decision
As she had been wronged often.
Tonight she realised, as it all fell apart
That they did not entirely belong to her
And that the best days really were the first to flee.

*

Focusing on the pain Mauli, ne’er did you any good.
Ripping your heart open it only caused you constant suffering.
Constantly complaining ne’er did help either.
It only brought in excuses and apologies that poured in abundance
And the same follies oft-repeated after that.
Living in fear of always been taken for granted
You finally take apart the beads off friendship’s string.

    1. Mauli is my protagonist who appears in some of my poems to convey my innermost feelings. its me speaking through her. anyone who connects with the feelings and thoughts can be my Mauli. i believe that there is a Mauli within each of us. only that she doesn’t get a voice to speak
