A Ray of Hope

By:- Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

Freed from the hell
Called self-pity,
There are lessons to be learnt.
Lessons; that teaches
To unbound from shackles of past
And not to dwell on the negatives.
Let the fires of self-worth crackle
Released from purgatory.
And in the end
The embers left
Shall tell the story.
There shall be no more strife
The past; long gone
The present; quorum
The future; unpredictable; a new life ahead.

Worn out heart
Beats; a reminder of being alive.
Chipped wheezing lungs
Breathing second-hand air.
A cotton candy gaze
Peering out of thick glasses.
For the stream of sunlight
To fill the veins with ecstasy.
The morning washes away
The tears;
Of the previous night
Ushering in renewal
A ray of hope.
