Accept Me As I Am

By- Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

I’m here.
I’m weird. I’m queer at times.
I may sound like a request
Or a summon.
Sometimes encouraging
Else provocating
Call me bait or a temptation.
Temptation as sweet as your smile;
Or bittersweet as a nightshade.

I’ve been around for centuries
You are a player
Who plays by my rules
Sometimes making reservations
For our mystic invocation.
Link me to a wedding or a tragedy
My essence stays the same.
Though not my fault, but students also know me
As the dreaded date sheet!

I understand
That not everyone
Wants to let me in,
I dream of a world
Where love reigns and peace prevails.
I am an invitation!
I shall always remain
Connected with all of you.
And keep touching your soul unexpectedly.

*Best of Luck to the Class twelfth students for their  Board Examinations
& all kids battling
with their finals and competitive exams 🙂
