The Sword: Photo Fiction #76

By:- Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

What all lies lie hidden
Betwixt the words
The innocent sword is at loss to know.
A weapon not intended to cause a strife.
Crafted out of fire, hammer
Anvil and steel
Family honour and independence
It strives to defend.
Single edged or double edged
You’ll need it to take a pledge
But even a sword has a friend concealed
For it stands incomplete without its shield.
A beautiful weapon of destruction or protection
I wonder which is more powerful
A sword that slays a dragon
Or a pen that can cripple the strong?

  1. Seriously, even I am wondering now.Is it the physical pain that hurts or the mental trauma.Anyways I think, physical pain is still tolerable,it will heal or kill one. However mental pain can stay forever and it even does not lead to death but it is all a torture inside,a never ending struggle with one thoughts.
Each line of your poem is so meaningful.
