By: Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

Swirling morning mist,
Drawing abstract patterns of love.
A lone drop of dew
Pristine and brand new
From heavens, it falls down
Landing atop a blade of grass,
A rose, in stinky gutters
Or on a spider’s web.
Though tempted by the wind,
Precariously balancing itself
Striving not to trickle down
The coy dewdrop reflects
A multitude of a million hues.

Moving sprightly,
Between golden rays of sun,
And prattling  breeze
Reluctantly; it begins to bid adieu,
Evanescing into vapour to accompany the wind.
An endless wait for tomorrow begins,
When it shall fall again
In the search of another grassy patch
And other manifestations that spring presents,
Sing songs of joy,
Warms the hearts and soothes the eyes,
While driving the winter gloom out.
