An Ordinary Girl

By: Ranjeeta Nath Ghai

She is an ordinary girl
With an extraordinary heart
In a not so ordinary world

She doesn’t fear to be hated
But fears losing a friend
Seeing Injustice being done
She cannot keep quiet anymore…
Nor can she keep quiet
When her heart is bleeding
Blurting out her feelings like a child
She knows she’ll attract enemies
And be judged. Yet, she doesn’t lack
The courage in her mind
And doesn’t let herself be swayed.

She is an ordinary girl
With an extraordinary heart
In a not so ordinary world.

Looking at the mirror all by herself
She’ll make faces at herself while
She critically examines what she sees
Blows herself a kiss turns around and
Heads straight for the chocolate she had just bought.
Owner of a smile that glows in the dark
Always ready to mingle with people
Her laughter is like an epidemic.
Sometimes too lazy to do her daily routines
She hits the bed for it’s just another night
Of just another day, in just another city,
In just another neighbourhood, on just another street.

For She is just an ordinary girl
With an extraordinary heart
In a not so ordinary world
