But For the Faint Memories

Long ago I knew a girl
Wistful and naughty.
Hiking a trail through my memories
I searched every path; followed every trail,
Till I almost lost my way.

Fragments of memories
Played in my mind
Like a vintage film in black n white.
And suddenly; within a moment,
She was gone!!

She was gone,
As if she never existed at all.
Vanished like a wisp of smoke
Retreated quickly and never looked back.
And nostalgia kept whispering softly into my ear.

‘Oh, Mauli!’ though I may not see your face,
I will find your spirit,
No matter how far you have gone!
It’s a romance with the past.
I’ll find you and wrap myself within.
