Guest Post: Sammy J; Believe In Yourself

Believe in yourself: Sammy J

Believe in yourself

“Many are called but few are chosen
The road might be long and worse if you’re broken
Things go wrong and bam! We realise it’s all fallen
But it was just one chance, there are many more, a dozen.

I didn’t believe it at first but here I am
Sitting on my bed, thinking and folding my arms
Then finally deciding to pour out all the pain and harm
Putting them in the most beautiful words I ever can.

I’m no experienced writer, no best-seller
But I have plans, I’m a dream chaser
I’m holding on to this dream, I’m a rule setter
And I know I’ll get there, there’s no deal breaker.

Believe in yourself, you are all you’ve got!”

Believe in yourself

Our guest today is a young lady, thoughtful by nature who loves writing, poetry and music. She uses her words, thoughts, feelings and a few experiences to really express how she feels and help others see it too. It came with time and though she feels that she is still a beginner, she loves what she’s doing and if it can reach out to someone out there, then she’ll be very grateful and honoured to help others. Sammy J, believes that “Life is but a journey, with its ups and downs but we are called to be fighters and walking with Faith knowing things will fall in place eventually.” My chat with her was most enjoyable and I am confident you will enjoy it too.

RNG: When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?

SAMMY: This summer 2016 that everything was clear to me. I had always written poems and my friends always told me I was good at talking to people, I could encourage and motivate them. So I decided to start my blog and face my fears…speak about daily life issues, being grateful, knowing oneself, being honest with one another etc. So yeah, summer 2016 was definitely awakening for me.

RNG: How long does it take you to write a poem/article?

SAMMY: For a poem, I’ll say an hour or less especially if I’m really in my feelings and my emotions are fresh. My ideas flow easily. For an article, it could take me3hours or more and sometimes a day because I like sleeping over my ideas, researching, looking for quotes hence bringing out the best I can. I try to be as explicit as possible to make sure my idea is well-spoken and illustrated.

RNG: What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

SAMMY: I usually write at night, just before I wanna go to bed because it’s at that time I do a lot of reflection over my life: my relationships, friendships, situations, and I evaluate myself a lot. I do play some music while working cuz it keeps me calm and relaxed.

RNG: What is your motivating factor?

SAMMY: Knowing that my story/experiences can help someone.. One person is enough. Getting positive feedback from my followers also keeps me going and it reminds me I’m doing the right thing. But most importantly, I wanna remind myself am a brave lady, that throughout everything I might have been through, I have made it and even if there’s more to come, I’ll be able to face it too. Writing gives me life, it’s like my sane world out of this crazy world.

RNG: When did you write your first poem/article and how old were you?

SAMMY: I wrote my first poem in Form 2 and I was 13years old.

RNG: How many poems/articles have you written till now? Can you share a few links of your favourite articles?

SAMMY: I have written72 articles and here are some of my favourite articles/poems…

Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
If These Walls Could Talk
Her Broken Pieces
Life In Between Moments

RNG: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

SAMMY: I love singing, dancing, playing the piano and going for walks. It keeps me in a jolly mood and I love being happy.

RNG: Would you like to consider publishing your work in form of a book in the near future?

SAMMY: This is my greatest prayer and goal. I want to write something that’s gonna change someone’s life.. it may be about my experiences and everything and I will put in my best to reach out to people. I already started a short fiction and I got positive feedback so if time lets me, I’ll go to the end of it by writing a book. I also want to be a motivational couch so I have lots to do about that.

RNG: Do you have any suggestions to help the people reading your interview become a better writer? If so, what are they?

SAMMY: I know every writer is unique and even if we do speak about the same things, we have different views and ideas and someone always has something to bring to the table. Number one rule is to stick to who you are. What do you want to write about? What are your motives? Set yourself goals and stick to your plan but never lose yourself trying to get an audience. Audience sick to reality, to people they can relate to, to honesty and if you fake it, they’ll know and you’ll obviously lose everything. So be you and the real ones will stick around. Second point is: Take risks, don’t be scared to write about interesting topics or changing vocabulary a little. Be bold about what you are up to, make your point and stand firm. Thirdly, make friends with other bloggers/writers. Read other people’s articles; get ideas from people who are already experienced. While trying to give your own point of view and mark your territory, you have to remember life is all about learning so be humble enough to do that. Finally, when you do have your followers, do interact with them, reply to your comments, like and share and be supportive of one another.

A big thank you for having me, Sammy J on this interview, I’ll love it if you’ll visit my blog.
