On The Other Side Of Love

poetry

On The Other Side Of Love

On The Other Side Of Love

On The Other Side Of Love

Your cruel words
Or a siren song
Reverberate
Through my thoughts
Oft repeating a question
To self, I wonder
Was it your love?
About which
I’ve been so wrong.

Countless half-hearted
Promises and vows
And lies that
Over the time will erode
Exposing
Shrivelled roots
Of trust
And debris of love
That travels with the wind.

Love; a strange thing,
And I a fool
To believe this old lie
But my heart
Tells stories and reminisce
Helping me cope
With the weakness
Of my soul
In the midst of madness
