Surfacing Life’s Undertow
When hearts are woven with cracks,
Reason and sanity seem the first to go.
Not much gets etched,
On a smooth surface.
Sliding off the edges.
Nothing lasts forever,
No warning signs, and it’s over.
Having no place in life.
When smiles fade into a blank slate,
Pleasure: a word eyes can’t communicate.
Looking for answers,
Where there are none.
Maybe I’m on the wrong side,
Of the universe.
Maybe I over analyze simple things,
Hoping for a better or worse outcome…
But, for me, surface relationships,
Now… cease not to be important.
