Daring Are Those Who Dare To Encounter

Conquer the highest mountain,
And take out expeditions…

Living in the Siachen Glacier,
Defying all the physical, mental and spiritual limits.

Brave the crevasses,
In the highest combat zone on planet earth.

A place where fewer soldiers have died on the line duty due to enemy fire,
Than because of the harsh weather conditions.

Swimming across the flood affected rivers,
Providing relief when civil administration fails.

Surviving the harshest desert,
Or combing the dense jungle for militants.

Diving the deepest trench on the border,
Or daring to make the longest jump across the enemy territory.

I dare the citizens, bureaucrats and paid media,
To spend a week with the soldiers.

Don’t forget to take your bullet proof jackets and helmets along,
Because the bullets that fly are real and not empty bullets.

When it comes to defending and sacrifice,
None can match the daring tigers of the Indian Army.

Amidst The Sands of Time

img-20160923-wa0021

By:- rANJEETA nATH gHAI

Poised like an ocean; deep and infinite,
Sometimes calm, at times tempestuous.
But with whatever happens on the surface,
I do have a serious qualm.
Ripples and waves that arise and subside,
Are all signs that there’s life existing down inside.
My mere existence;
Encompassing the land,
Clouds and atmosphere above,
Which in turn return in grateful tears of love.

*

My heart hollow, soul vacant,
Plagued by parasites; burning with sorrow.
Once in a while,
I shrug my shoulders.
Storms. Disturbances. Earthquakes.
Are merely reactions to all the inhabitants on land.
Who with their ignorance and greed,
Are plundering everything by their hand.
Not meaning to do anybody any harm,
I have to get the message across; sound the alarm.

*

I don’t feel generous or mean,
Or for that matter anything extreme.
My mind is at peace,
My thoughts are at ease.
But them Humans;
Will no longer be allowed to reside.
Determined to chase them from my Eden,
With inky darkness I will paint my picture.
As I focus far ahead into oblivion,
They can never say they weren’t warned.

*

Trying to maintain my sanity,
Today I, Nature;
An ever unraveling mystery.
Am caught in a dilemma,
One of the most difficult conundrums.
Whether to distance myself from humans,
Ushering in an apocalypse,
Or to give them a second chance.
My silent presence giving them company,
Amidst the sands of time.

Handle With Care

images-2
By:- rANJEETA nATH gHAI

Glass;
Delicate
Breakable
Frangible, and,
Fragile.

***

Relationships;
Are like a bubble
Fuelled with commitment
So complicated;
So fragile.

***

Dreams;
Ark of hope; brighten your days
Might bleed the heart causing the deepest pain
So fragile…
It could be blown to pieces.

***

Stone; will crumble.
Wood; will rot.
People; will die.
Fragile things as thoughts
And dreams will be destroyed.

***

But Life and Legends;
Overwhelmingly gorgeous: are not fragile
They Can Go
On And On
And On….endlessly.

Another Bullet Flew By

0b796ef

By:- rANJEETA nATH gHAI

Enlisted
To serve the country
Enthusiasm; zest,
Vitality; dynamism,
A part of his personality.
With no taste for…
Ping Zing Diplomacy,
An officer is born.

*****

Bullets zinging past him, dust flying,
Bound together, they fight.
Back to back,
Brothers from another time.
He doesn’t fight,
Because he hates what’s in front,
But to protect those,
Whom he left behind.

*****

Blisters. Swelling.
Aches and yearning;
He knows not when it will dissipate.
Vivid images
Playing in his mind,
The rushing blood and adrenalin.
Bullets crackling above him,
The war; it will stop one day, right?

*****

But on the court of life,
Paid Media and Human Rights Activists,
Deciding his fate
No competition but allegations;
Again and Again taking pot shots at him.
Accusations searing a black hole across his heart,
And in a moment passing faster than the blinding flash,
Of a supernova; he’s gone… forever.

This is dedicated to the Soldiers and Officers of the Indian Army who are always on the receiving end of the Paid Media and Human Rights Activists.

Temporary Lessons

p1060594

By:- rANJEETA nATH nHAI

Concrete rubble,
Scattered beneath my feet.
Vacant Streets;
On the other side of the road.
Into the grove,
I see barren homes that once flourished.
Now stand abandoned; whilst wind swiftly whispers,
Hollowed secrets.

***

An old tree stump.
Aged beyond measure.
Once a towering giant,
Viridescent leaved;
Today; cut with precision.
Incapacitated to no longer grow,
Ragged shards of raw inner wood ,
Now blackened with death.

***

I intently observe,
The grooved bark of a tree,
Next to the stump.
The outreaching tree was,
Proliferated while the other did not due to death.
It grew around that cut,
Which was enough to cause death,
With limbs now outstretched towards the sky.

***

The realization swooshed,
And then swelled into my heart,
These are nothing but,
Temporary lessons….
Circumstances are never same; not forever.
Its mind over matter.
We can either be stumped in our lives,
Or, rise above our problems; cross the barriers of mind; reaching the zenith.

Recharge Your Weathered Soul

download

By:- rANJEETA nATH gHAI

Frenzy, bustle, and buzz…
Waking up early, making breakfast.
Making lunches;
Fighting the stains; Folding the laundry,
Sweeping, and mopping,
Making beds; scaring monsters away.
Bedtime stories; midnight snuggles.

*****

Peaceful rest and quiet sleep,
Replaced by frenzied stress; no relief.

Rushing here and rushing there,
Always rushing; “doing things.”
Every promise of hope shattered,
Filling the skies,
With our miserable cries of life’s disdain.

*****

Get back your sunshine,
Don’t allow your dreams to weep like willows.
Sway to the rhythm of life,
Let the rain wash away pains of yesterday.
Let your soul illuminate to new heights,
Beating vivid like fire in the night,
Let new day recharge your light.
